Stay with us and you are just a short drive away from the Whakapapa Ski Field!
Within just 20 minutes you can be at the chairlifts and ready for a great day on the slopes. After the last day's run, head back to Tongariro Holiday Park for a beautiful hot spa and a good rest.
Whakapapa, on the north-western slopes of Mt Ruapehu, is New Zealand's largest developed ski area. Within the 550 hectare (1360 acres) boundary there is excellent skiing and boarding for all levels.
Whakapapa boasts all services and amenities that you would expect to find at any international ski area. Happy Valley is a complete learner's area that is separate to the main ski area so beginners can progress in a safe environment.

There are 30 groomed trails and a huge variety of off-piste areas which intermediate and advanced skiers and boarders will love. As snowboarding and freeskiing reach new heights, Whakapapa caters to these riders by building special features to keep them entertained such as Half pipes and the beginner to intermediate Terrain Park For non-skiers who don't want to miss out on playing in the snow there is also a dedicated tobogganing and tubing area for your sliding pleasure! Whakapapa Village Whakapapa Information Centre houses interesting volcanic and cultural exhibitions with multi-media displays and there are gifts and souvenirs available both at the Info Centre and at other small stores in Whakapapa Village.
New Zealand's highest Golf Course is also at Whakapapa Village. We can transport you to and from Mount Ruapehu skiing areas, if you'd rather not have to compete for a car park, or if you want to enjoy a drink or two in Whakapapa Village after your day skiing or snowboarding.
